Quigal - Quick Legal Search

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Will Quigal always be free to use?
A. Yes. Quigal will always be free to business professionals to search for top-tier legal help.

Q. Do I need to sign up for an account to use Quigal?
A. Only attorneys who want to join the Quigal network of top-tier attorneys have to register or join. Users do not have to register or sign up for an account.

Q. When I search for legal representation, what do I get for results?
A. The results from a Quigal search represent the best attorneys* (registered in our database and based on our selection criteria) using the search parameters you entered. On the main search results page you will get to see the attorney's current position, where he/she went to law school, when he/she graduated from law school, a short professional summary, what practice areas he/she specializes in, contact information (email, phone, live chat), and links to any social networking sites to which he/she may subscribe. You can also visit an attorney's complete profile page, which provides an extended professional biography, case summaries, and more.

Q. What criteria do the lawyers who appear in the Quigal search results have to meet?
A. Please read our acceptance criteria to understand the criteria.

Q. Can I provide feedback on the legal help I receive from a lawyer I found using Quigal?
A. Yes. Your feedback is welcomed. We like to know how the attorneys who appear on our search results page are doing. Please note that you will need to supply your Case ID to provide feedback. A Case ID is provided to you after you have sent the query form that appears at the top of the search results page to one or more attorneys.

Q. Can I read feedback received on a particular law firm or lawyer?
A. An attorney’s ratings can be viewed on his/her profile. However, we do not publish comments submitted about an attorney.

Q. What if I'm not sure what Practice Area to choose?
A. You are not required to choose a Practice Area. You can either use your best guess or simply select "No Preference" and submit a description of the case to the attorneys that appear in the search results.

Q. Do I need to explain my case before I can contact a Quigal lawyer?
A. No. However, it is highly recommended that you provide a very general description of your legal needs (please see examples below). When drafting your description, please note that while information stored on our computer is secure, it may still be subject to court orders or search warrants. Communication through our web site DOES NOT establish an attorney-client relationship, and even attorney-client communications may be subject to court orders or search warrants. DO NOT INCLUDE CONFIDENTIAL, EMBARRASSING OR INCRIMINATING INFORMATION. Examples of appropriate attorney queries:

       1. “I am interested in forming a company that acquires buildings for real estate development. Is there an attorney
who could help with the legal work?”
       2. “I must appear in court on a misdemeanor matter. Can I get representation?”
       3. “Another business has infringed on my company’s trademark. What can I do to stop this?”
       4. “I am being sued by my neighbor for damage to his property. Can someone advise me?”
       5. “I would like assistance in purchasing a retail franchise.”
       6. “I need a lawyer to represent me in my divorce proceedings.”

Q. Can I contact more than one lawyer?
A. Absolutely. In fact, Quigal recommends that you contact all the lawyers who you believe might be interested in representing you. For various reasons, a particular attorney may not be able to respond to your request. The more attorneys you contact, the more likely it is that you will receive a response from an attorney experienced in handling your type of legal matter.

Q. How do I know what I should expect to pay for the legal help I need?
A. Quigal does not get involved in the fees negotiated between you and your attorney. Quigal attorneys may post fee and payment options on their Quigal profile, though many choose not to do so and instead choose to discuss the options with you directly.

Q. Can I chat with an attorney or law firm representative online?
A. Yes, if they subscribe to Quigal's live chat option. If an attorney subscribes to our live chat option, a live chat icon will appear in the search results whenever that attorney is listed. You will also see if an attorney subscribes to the live chat option in his/her profile page.

* Only attorneys who appear in Quigal search results with the "Accepted" label have been screened at registration for professional experience, education, and disciplinary record. Though Quigal makes a conscientious effort in its screening process to select the highest quality attorneys, Quigal does not warranty, either expressly or implicitly, the performance of any attorney registered on this website, nor does Quigal continuously review the attorney's standing with the state bar. Before engaging an attorney, you should check the disciplinary agency in the attorney's state to see if the attorney is currently a member in good standing of the state bar.
